Full Length PCI cards wont fit in the PE6R4-I Expansion unit

Last Updated: Sep 29, 2016 02:24PM PDT

Product: PE6R4-I

Problem:
I have customer in Switzerland with a PE6R4I. He is fitting full length Digidesign Protools HD PCI cards and he is finding the cards are just too long to fit into the chassis. He estimates that the card is about 0.5~1.0mm too long to be fitted into the chassis.

Digidesign recommend the PE6R4, which I believe is exactly the same chassis.

There is a mechanical tolerance issue somewhere, but I wanted to know if you thought there could be an issue with the chassis or plastic rear card guides. For a temporary solution the customer has removed the plastic guides and is up and running.

Solution:
The Fan Cage or Drive cage came loose ,  which is  the main issue  as to why the Protools cards won’t fit properly.

As you can see from the picture below, from reference point A to B the card cage front end is not align correctly.

To fix this you have to reseat the card cage by pushing it slowly towards the front wall of the chassis.
