Host computer generates PCI or PCIE ERROR on shutdown

Product: PCI and PCIe expansion units.
Computer: Server
Operating System: Windows7 and Server

 

Problem:

PCI ERROR on shutdown of system. System then restarts instead of shutdown. Hardware is Dell PowerEdge R610 running Windows 7 RTM and Server OS. System will restart normally if restart is selected. If shutdown is selected the system will throw a PCI error in
Dell Hardware monitor and restart.

Dell does not boot down but restarts; amber LIGHT comes on; and on post screen dell says it had a fatal error, F1 to continue.
To clear error message: need to press the reset button (no need to unplug the power supply);Blue LED comes on
Dell System Monitor shows PCIE Error

 

Analysis: We found out that that his issue is related to Computers with 2nd Generation PCIE slots.

 

Solution: This can be fixed via registry using a patch.
