Collecting Log Information For ION 1.x

This article describes how you can collect the Master, System, and Audit logs from an ION 1.x Appliance.

Note that ION Data Accelerator logs are distinct from OS logs and are collected for troubleshooting purposes.

Detailed Description/Resolution
To collect log information from an ION 1.x appliance, follow the steps listed in the table below.


To collect log information from an ION 1.x appliance, follow the steps listed in the table below.

Step Action
Click the Log Information link. The LOG dialog appears, with Collect Log File selected.
2 From the drop-down menu, choose the type of log information you want to collect:
  • Master log -- a tarball of a complete fio-bugreport and Fusion-io configuration.
  • System log -- contains only system information.
  • Audit log -- contains user audit information.
3 Confirm and click Submit.
4 The current log file is shown in .tgz format in the Collected Logs area of the dialog.
The fio-bugreport utility gathers the information and creates the compressed file
at http:<yourIP>/tmp/<filename>. If multiple log file entries exist,the newest one is listed first. 
Note the following:
  • Master log filenames are prefixed with master-.
  • System log names are prefixed with system-.
  • Audit log names are prefixed with audit-.
  • The other components in the filename are the host name (neutrino in this case),
  • followed by date and time of the log capture (YYYYMMDD-HHMMSS).
5 Attach the log(s) to a currently open case or login at 
to create a new case attaching the logs for review along with a detailed problem description.
